By Train

Oxford railway station is located on the western edge of the city centre, about 10 minutes walk from Carfax (the central point in the city). The station is managed by Thames Trains, with routes from Stratford-upon-Avon to London Paddington and Bristol, and is also served by Virgin Trains from Scotland to the south coast. Services to London Paddington run twice an hour during the day, with journeys taking around 60 minutes.

Oxford is connected to London, the M25 and the Midlands by the M40 motorway. Junctions 8 and 9 link directly to the city. The Oxford ring road provides direct access to the south and west coast ports of Southampton, Portsmouth and Bristol via the A34.

Parking in the city centre is extremely limited and visitors to Oxford arriving by car are recommended to use the city's 'Park & Ride' service. Fast and frequent bus services link four car parks located adjacent to the ring road with the city centre, 7 days a week.
